THE HOOD
WELOME TO THE HUMORHOOD OF MOTHERHOOD
Hella Cool Mom wasn’t supposed to take this long. I bought the domain in 2007 when my kid was one. I thought I was young, hip… and definitely going to do something with it. That was cute.
Then life happened. I became the mom who was everywhere—school events, sports, volunteering, trying to hold it all together while everyone else somehow made it look easy. At one point I thought this would be a place for organized ideas—art projects, science boards, helpful stuff.
Yeah… that didn’t happen either.
Somewhere along the way, my kids started telling “your mom” jokes.
And it clicked…Hella Cool Mom wasn’t about being perfect—it was about the stuff that isn’t funny in the moment, but later… kind of is. (It has to be.)
“I’m such a hella cool mom, I put myself in timeout.”
“I’m such a hella cool mom, I make my kids finish homework before electronics.”
“I’m such a hella cool mom, I yell at my kids and immediately regret it.”
Now my kids are older. The scraped knees turned into attitude, eye rolls, and the occasional “I hate you.” And somewhere in there, I lost a little of myself. This space is where I figure that out again.
This isn’t polished. This isn’t perfect. This is the hood.
A place to say the things you’re thinking but not always saying.
To vent, laugh, and realize you’re not the only one.
We’re all just trying to survive this hood together.
